Pastor Pierre Bennett: Coming to God with a Broken Heart

In Pastor Pierre Bennett | on March 16, 2012 | by Pastor Pierre Bennett

Pastor Pierre Bennett first learned about God as a young boy, listening to his mom sing in the church choir. As he came into a deeper relationship with God as an adult, Pastor Pierre Bennett realized his true calling was to serve in ministry. In 2008, Pastor Pierre Bennett founded God’s Luv International Ministries Church in Virginia.

Pastor Pierre Bennett believes that to truly know God, you must come to Him with a broken heart. We’re all sinners, Pastor Pierre Bennett explains, but often the strongest believers do not realize they are sinning until they grow into a deeper relationship with God.

Pastor Pierre Bennett relates an example of a person who goes to a hotel room bearing contraceptives. That person deliberately sins, Pastor Pierre Bennett explains, and while that sin can be forgiven, it is difficult for a person who is sinning with foreknowledge to have a truly repentant heart.

According to Pastor Pierre Bennett, the heart of someone who lives a life of sin and later repents may be purer than someone who has been “churchy” for many years. As Pastor Pierre Bennett tells his congregation, avid churchgoers can often neglect to come before God with true repentance. Pastor Pierre Bennett points out that we need to continually ask God to keep our hearts clean and to help lead us on the right path.

Whether a long-time sinner has spent his life in crime, drugs, or other forms of sin, when he finally gets to know the Lord, he will be truly passionate in his faith, according to Pastor Pierre Bennett. This prodigal will come to God in true repentance, asking for forgiveness and with a sincere desire to finally get to know Him. There is nothing fake in this repentance, Pastor Pierre Bennett points out, and it is this pureness to which longtime believers should aspire.

Sometimes God allows believers to go through trials to bring this sense of repentance, Pastor Pierre Bennett says. Sometimes this comes in the form of seemingly insurmountable obstacles that can make believers seek out the lesson of faith. Instead of awaiting those trials, Pastor Pierre Bennett encourages fellow believers to shun backsliding in the first place, thus avoiding these difficult trials.

God will always be there for you, Pastor Pierre Bennett emphasizes. God simply wants to move you to the next level of your relationship with Him so you can enjoy the true blessings that come with faith. But no matter what you do, God is working in your life, bringing blessings you don’t even realize you have, Pastor Pierre Bennett concludes.
